Alice M. Glear (Lay), 69, of Hannibal, Missouri, formerly of Macon, Missouri, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2020, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

The family is being served by the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, Missouri.

Alice was born August 6, 1950, in Macon, Missouri to Elmo Lay and Maxine M. Gipson.

Survivors include two children, Janis M. Ray and Paco Guevara (Stacy) of St. Louis, Missouri. Also surviving are two brothers, Johnny Gipson and Larry Whitfield; and six grandchildren.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents.

Professionally, Alice was an LPN. Over the years, she worked at nursing homes and in home health.

Away from work, Alice loved to fish, hunt, and tend to her flowers in her garden. A wonderful cook and baker, Alice made the most delicious pies and sweets. In her spare time, Alice enjoyed doing puzzles, going to garage sales, thrifting and painting pictures, especially of birdhouses.

Alice will be remembered as an honest, outspoken and a loving woman.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
