Scouting the Pirates: The Pirates have rattled off five straight victories and wrapped up a North Central Missouri Conference championship entering the final week of the regular season. While this game is out of conference, it still provides Hannibal a chance to solidify a No. 1 seed in next week’s district tournament. The offense has been high-flying during this winning streak by averaging 50 points per game, and have surpassed 60 points twice, including last week in the drubbing over Marshall. Running back Damien French had his streak of games with 200 yards on the ground snapped last week, but the rest of the offense picked up the slack. Quarterback Courtland Watson threw for a touchdown and ran for another, while Kadin Morgan also returned an interception for a touchdown. French still managed to score twice in the victory.
Scouting the Spartans: Battle has traded wins and losses across the last five contests, and a victory over Hannibal would give the Spartans their first back-to-back wins since a three-game winning streak from weeks 2 to 4. In the last two victories, Battle scored 67 points against cross-town rival Hickman and 57 against Jefferson City. They scored just 12 points in a loss against Jackson, and were shut out against Rockhurst. Running back Darren Jordan was the focal point for Battle’s offense against Jeff City, scored five touchdowns and 226 yards. Quarterback Harrison Keller completed 12 of 24 passes for 201 yards an a pick.
