HANNIBAL | Police report that a man suspected of driving a stolen car on Friday struck a patrol vehicle and two other vehicles before being apprehended after a foot chase.

A Hannibal Police Department report indicates that a tip was received at 6:10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020, that a stolen vehicle from Quincy, Ill., was at the Casey's convenience store located at 4215 McMasters Ave. in Hannibal.

Officers report that the suspect, later identified as Steven L. Martin, 19, of Hannibal, drove backwards into a patrol car then drove forward onto the sidewalk in front of Casey's, striking another vehicle before driving south on U.S. 61.

The chase continued onto Geronimo Avenue where another vehicle was struck near the stop sign. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot toward the Marsh Avenue area. Officers pursued him and after a lengthy search the suspect was observed in the 3900 block of McMasters Avenue and fled from them again but was eventually apprehended on Arapaho Street.

Martin was initially transported to the Hannibal Police Department and shortly thereafter was taken to the Marion County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold, pending issuance of arrest warrants. No citizens or officers were injured during the incident.
