Marion County announces 12th COVID-19 case

HANNIBAL | The Marion County Health Department announced its twelfth positive case of COVID-19 on Monday, a female in the age 40-50 range, who is quarantined at home recovering.

Monday's positive test was the seventh novel coronavirus case in Marion County in June, four of which were nursing home patients. There have been five confirmed recoveries and zero deaths in Marion County.

The Marion County Health Department are working in coordination with the Missouri Department of Senior Services (DHSS) to determine any close contacts of that person who were possibly exposed. Health officials will provide guidance to these individuals and monitor them closely for the development of symptoms.

As of Tuesday morning, the state of Missouri has conducted over 300,000 COVID-19 tests, has had 18,143 total cases and 961 deaths.

The Marion County Health Department urges the public to take appropriate precautions, including good hygiene, social distancing and limiting in-person interactions. If you are sick; particularly with a fever, cough or shortness of breath, stay home and contact your health care provider or urgent care center for guidance regarding symptoms and next steps to take.
