Few things are more exciting for youngsters than the freedom found on a bicycle ride. To help make the experience as safe as it is exciting, Blessing Health Hannibal is hosting its annual Ride Cool bike safety event on Saturday, May 30 from 10 am until Noon.
According to national statistics, over 220,000 children are treated in emergency rooms each year for bicycle injuries.
Ride Cool is a free event. Children should bring their bikes to experience one of two obstacle courses – one for younger riders and one for older children – to help them learn to handle road hazards. Ride Cool also features a free bike helmet and a t-shirt to the first 250 children who register on the day of the event at Blessing Health Hannibal, 100 Medical Drive.
Ride Cool is hosted by Blessing Health System’s Hannibal Community Health Services Committee with the support of a Riedel Foundation grant.
