JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Bowling Green junior Alli Hustedde had a long weekend at the MSHSAA Class 3 Track and Field State Championships.

After already placing fifth in the long jump on Friday, she tackled the finals of her three running events on Saturday.

“Coming into today knowing I was in the finals for all my running events I knew confidence would be key,” said Hustedde. “I told myself there was no need to be nervous, just turn those nerves into excitement and be grateful to be competing.

The day started with the 100-meter dash. A false start by Cherysh Barr of Central didn’t seem to deter the Bowling Green junior.

“I would say it caused less nerves,” said Hustedde. “If anything it gave me more confidence.”

Hustedde turned in a personal best time of 12.58 to finish in sixth place.

“After the Long Jump yesterday, I think it helped me through today keeping my head and confidence high,” said Hustedde.

Next Hustedde ran her best event, the 400-meter dash. As a freshman Hustedde grabbed All-State honors by taking third place in a time of 58.41.

On Saturday, history almost repeated itself. Hustedde ran a time of 58.6 and again took third. It was the second-fastest time she has ever run the 400 in and another third place medal to add to her collection.

To finish off the weekend Hustedde ran in the 200-meter dash. It did not sit well that she was ranked last coming into the race.

“I was not happy and I think that’s what really pushed me to run the way I did,” said Hustedde. “When the race was over I knew it was a good race and realized that I had broke the school record.”

Hustedde once again ran a personal best time of 25.39 and secured a sixth place finish similar to her 100 honor. “

In high school track and field you are limited to four events in a single competition. And when you are able to earn All-State honors in all four events in one meet, that is a rare and special occasion.

“Alli completed a historic state track meet,” said Bowling Green head coach Matt Chance. “She peaked at the right time and for her to break the school record on the last event of a very demanding two day meet shows her incredible durability and toughness.”
