Lawson Harris passed away on June 3, 2026, at the age of 50. He was a son, brother, friend, husband, and father. He was a man whose presence filled every room he entered, and whose impact will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Hannibal, Missouri native, Lawson studied architecture at Kansas State University before building his career across Chicago and New York City. He ultimately put down roots in Kirkwood, Missouri, where he founded Spotwood Construction and built the life he had always imagined—one grounded in craftsmanship, integrity, and the people he loved.
As a father, he was soft-handed and gentle-voiced. He showed up for every game, school event, and family gathering. He believed that childhood was something to be treasured and never taken for granted. “We are only children for such a short time.”
And so he made sure Emmett and Monty felt loved in every moment he was given with them. Lawson was a joyous and jovial person. His infectious laughter could be heard across any room. He laughed at his own jokes with complete confidence, which was often the funniest part. He loved the Blues, a good dive bar, and spending time with family and friends. He was a dependable rock, generous with his time, loyal to those he loved, and never missed an opportunity to make someone smile.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Harris. He is survived by his wife, Mariah; sons, Emmett and Montgomery; mother, Betty Harris; sister, Tonya Harris; the family dog, Lily; and more friends than could ever be properly counted.
Celebration of Life: Please join us at Bopp Chapel Funeral Home in Kirkwood, Missouri, on Wednesday, June 10th, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. A short service will be held, followed by time to share stories and be together. Lawson would have wanted it that way.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in Lawson’s memory.
