Sylvia Lois Hudson (Payne), 83, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, at Village Green Memory Care , surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on April 30, 1943, in Orange County, California. As a child, Sylvia’s family moved frequently as migrant workers, following the crops—a life that helped shape her resilience, strength, and deep appreciation for hard work and family.

Sylvia dedicated her career to caring for others as a nurse, retiring in 2013. Her compassion extended far beyond her profession—she had a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and loved.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Everett Hudson, who passed on April 19, 2023. They shared a remarkable life together and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in December 2023.

Sylvia is survived by her children: Dawn Edwards, Patsy Hudson ( Marti McKinney), Melissa Talley ( Brian), and Justin Hudson ( Robin) . She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Karyl Edwards (Chris Kuhle) , Zachary Edwards, Erin Talley, Sophia Talley, Chase Hudson, Audrey Talley, Joshua Wynne-Hudson, and Emery Hudson; and her great-grandchildren, Josey and Sylvie Kuhle.

Sylvia found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments. She loved her many animals—dogs and cats, too numerous to name—along with singing and dancing, gardening, hunting, quilting, and searching for rocks. One of her most memorable accomplishments was holding the record from the National Turkey Federation for the longest bearded hen taken by a female. Her story was published in the National Turkey Federation magazine as well. She was a devoted mother who coached softball and served as a Girl Scout troop leader; always encouraging and guiding those around her.

She will be remembered for her warm smile, her sweet dimples, and her extraordinary ability to make everyone feel special. Her love of music and dancing remained with her always, even in her final days.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
