HANNIBAL — Hannibal Regional Hospital has introduced a mobile imaging coach designed to bring mammography, ultrasound, and echocardiogram services directly to rural communities across the region.
The two-room Mobile Imaging Coach will provide screening and diagnostic mammography along with ultrasound and echocardiogram services, according to the hospital. In addition to visiting rural communities, the coach will offer on-site mammography screenings for area employers.
Hospital officials said the mobile unit is intended to give patients earlier access to imaging services that help physicians detect and treat health conditions sooner, which can lead to better outcomes.
The coach will travel to communities throughout the region, including Kirksville, Edina, Canton, Lancaster, Shelbina, Moberly, Brookfield, and Paris.
Women age 40 and older do not need a referral from a healthcare provider to schedule a screening mammogram, though they must provide the name of a provider to receive their results. Ultrasound and echocardiogram appointments require a provider’s order.
The coach’s schedule and additional information about its services are available through Hannibal Regional’s website. Appointments can be scheduled by calling Hannibal Regional’s centralized scheduling line at 573-248-5688.
