Ralls County prosecutor candidate launches website for public input ahead of primary

RALLS COUNTY — Katie Carlin, a candidate for Ralls County prosecuting attorney, has launched a new feature on her campaign website inviting residents to share questions, concerns, and feedback directly with her campaign.

The “Direct Conversation” tool, available on Carlin’s campaign website, is intended to give Ralls County residents a way to weigh in on the prosecuting attorney’s office ahead of the Aug. 4 primary election.

Carlin currently serves as first assistant prosecuting attorney in Marion County. According to her campaign, she has experience in criminal prosecution and child advocacy, and has authored law review articles and statutory proposals related to foster care.

“Every perspective matters,” Carlin said in a statement. “Whether you have questions, concerns, or ideas on what is or isn’t working with the current prosecuting attorney’s office, I want to hear from you. My goal is to work together with residents to keep our community safe, and that starts with an open dialogue.”

As part of her platform, Carlin has pledged to implement Karpel Solutions, a criminal case management software system, in the prosecuting attorney’s office. Her campaign said Ralls County is currently the only county in Missouri not using the software, and estimated that Carlin’s existing training with the platform would save the county about $20,000 in training costs if she is elected.

Carlin founded EMBRACE Children & Families, a nonprofit organization, and has served on the boards of the Missouri Network Against Child Abuse and the Women’s Law Association, according to her campaign. She has also worked as a frontline child welfare caseworker with the Missouri Children’s Division, where she licensed and trained foster and adoptive parents.

According to her campaign, Carlin spent time in Missouri’s foster care system as a child and has said that experience shaped her decision to pursue child advocacy work. Her campaign said she has received the John R. Justice Award for commitment to prosecution and the Missouri Bar Award for ethics and professionalism.

The Ralls County primary election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 4, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voting precincts in Ralls County include Perry, Center, New London, Saverton, Jasper, Saline, and Clay townships. Residents can find their local polling location through Carlin’s campaign website or through county election officials.
