HNB National Bank, Federal Home Loan Bank award grant to Mark Twain museum

HANNIBAL — The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum has received a matching grant through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines’ Member Impact Fund, HNB National Bank announced.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines invited its member institutions, including HNB National Bank, to take part in the grant program, which is benefiting a range of nonprofit organizations across Missouri. The amount of the grant awarded to the museum was not disclosed.

Bank officials said the funding will support the museum’s efforts to preserve the life and legacy of Mark Twain, which includes Clemens’ boyhood home and several other historic buildings, works to interpret his life and highlight the continued relevance of his writing.

“HNB National Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines are pleased to assist in furthering the mission and activities of the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum and to help demonstrate the relevance of his stories and ideas to citizens of the world,” the bank said in announcing the grant.

The award was presented by Hal Benedict, chief financial officer of HNB National Bank, and John Zimmer, the bank’s president and chief executive officer, to Megan Rapp, executive director of the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum.

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines is a regional cooperative bank that provides funding and other financial services to member banks and credit unions across a multistate district, and it regularly channels grant funding to community and economic development projects through its member institutions.
