Man seriously injured after falling from towed boat at Mark Twain Lake

PERRY — A 46-year-old local man sustained serious injuries Sunday night when he fell out of a boat being towed by a pickup truck and was run over by the trailer near Mark Twain Lake.
The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. at the Robert Allen Boat Ramp area, located about 9 miles west of Perry in Monroe County, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report.
Authorities said a 50-year-old Perry man was driving a southbound 2019 Ford F-350 pulling a boat on a trailer through a roundabout near the boat ramp. The truck hit a bump, causing the 46-year-old passenger to fall out of the side of the towed boat and into the path of the boat trailer, which ran over him.
Neither individual was using safety equipment at the time of the incident, officials said.
The injured passenger, also from Perry, was flown by MU Health Care’s Air Medical Service (MU1) to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries.
The pickup truck sustained no damage and was driven from the scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol investigated the accident, assisted by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe County Ambulance, and the Monroe County Fire Department.
