HMS students receive Student of the Month, Character of the Month honors

HANNIBAL | Hannibal Middle School faculty and staff members selected Student and Character of the Month honorees for December.

One student from each grade level was selected for the Student of the Month award, and Character of the Month awards went to a seventh grade student and an eighth grade student for displaying self-control.

Students of the Month

Sixth grade

Emma Paige Bonnell is the daughter of Lance and Missy Bonnell. She is a member of Advanced Math and the Hester Community Youth Group. Emma competes in gymnastics at Tri-City Quest. She has been a straight-A student, created artwork chosen to be in the Art Show and read her poem in the Veterans Day program. Emma enjoys gymnastics and art and loves to babysit and help in Children's Church.

Seventh grade

Harper Rae Karr is the daughter of Lance and Meghan Karr. She is a member of the Student Lighthouse Team. Harper competes in basketball, softball and track. She has achieved perfect attendance and was named to the A Honor Roll. Harper enjoys board games, travel, watching movies, hanging out with friends and family and cooking.

Eighth grade

Andrew Lance Krigbaum, is the son of Lance and Brenda Krigbaum. He is a member of Hannibal Middle School Drama Club, Pirate Singers, HMS Band and Prince Avenue Baptist Youth Group. Andrew has been named to the A Honor Roll. He enjoys video games, reading and all that angsty teen stuff.

 

Character of the Month

Seventh grade

Clara Holliday is the daughter of Alisha Engels, and her grandma is Thelma Wamsley. Clara's nickname is Boogie. She enjoys walking downtown, hanging with friends, painting, singing and playing Uno.

Eighth grade

Matthew Owen Clatt is the son of Kevin and Darci Clatt. He is a member of Kids in Motion. Matthew has received the 2019 Kid of the Year award and the Hardest Worker award in 2018 and 2019 from Kids in Motion. He enjoys gaming, computer coding and Lego building.

When the Hannibal Art Club's annual exhibit and contest opened Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Hannibal Arts Council Gallery, HAC Executive Director Michael Gaines was excited to have a winning sculpture sold to the first person attending.
