HANNIBAL | Puddle of Mudd will headline the Tom Sawyer Days concert at Tanyard Gardens on Saturday, June 27.
Hannibal Jaycees president Jeff Veach said the organization messaged Puddle of Mudd's manager, and the band agreed to play the June 27 show.
“We are excited to do something,” Veach said. “Everybody has been locked up for so long, it's been unpredictable.”
The Hannibal Jaycees also booked Maximus and Smells Like Nirvana to open up for Puddle of Mudd on June 27.
Puddle of Mudd replaces previous headliner Theory of a Deadman, who had to withdraw due to the U.S./Canada border being temporarily closed for non-essential travel because of coronavirus restrictions.
“That was out of our hands (because of the border closure),” Veach said. “The whole band is from Canada and two of their members are still there.”
Tickets for the June 27 show at Tanyard Gardens will be $20 in advance and $25 the day of the show.
Gates will open at 5:30 p.m., with Maximus playing 6 to 7 p.m. Smells Like Nirvana will play from 7:30 to 9 p.m., and headliner Puddle of Mudd will play from 9:30 to 11 p.m.
“We try to do a half-hour between when acts play,” Veach said.
Maximus is a rock band based out of Kansas City. Smells Like Nirvana is a Chicago-based band that plays Nirvana covers and some original songs.
Puddle of Mudd is also a Kansas City-based rock band who is best known for songs such as “She Hates Me,” “Blurry” and “Control.” Longtime singer and guitar player Wes Scantlin remains the band's only original member, and Puddle of Mudd released their latest album, “Welcome to Galvania,” last September.
Tanyard Gardens will be hosting other concerts and events throughout Tom Sawyer Days. On Thursday, July 2, it will open for Superjam at 5:30 p.m. On Thursday, July 3, gates open at 6:30 p.m. for The American Standard, which will be an all-inclusive night.
On Friday, July 4, Tanyard Gardens will open for Maskera, Big Deal and Memphis Mafia.
Tanyard Gardens is located at 320 South 3rd St. in Hannibal.
