JWCC grad transferred to Missouri State Highway Patrol Gaming Division

JEFFERSON CITY — Lt. Stephen M. Burgun, currently assistant director of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Water Patrol Division, will transfer to the agency’s Gaming Division to serve as an assistant director, the Patrol announced.

Burgun graduated from the Missouri State Water Patrol Academy in 2008 and became a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol when the Water Patrol merged with the agency on January 1, 2011.

He was promoted to corporal on January 1, 2014, and was designated assistant zone supervisor of Troop F, Zone 16, at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was promoted to sergeant in December 2017 and named zone supervisor of that same zone.

Burgun was promoted to lieutenant on January 1, 2020, and transferred to Troop F headquarters in Jefferson City. He transferred to the Patrol’s general headquarters on February 1, 2021, and has served as assistant director of the Water Patrol Division since then.

A native of Bolingbrook, Illinois, Burgun graduated from Kirkwood High School in Kirkwood, Missouri, in 1996. He earned an associate degree in criminal justice from John Wood Community College in Quincy.

Burgun and his wife, Jamie, have three children.
