Two women injured in Pike County broadside crash

CLARKSVILLE — Two women were injured Tuesday morning after an SUV failed to yield at an intersection and was struck by a semi-truck in Pike County.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 10:43 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 54 and Route NN, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.
Authorities said a 77-year-old Clarksville woman was driving a northbound 2014 Ford Escape when she failed to stop and yield to an oncoming eastbound 2027 Peterbilt 579, driven by a 38-year-old woman from Taylors, South Carolina.
The front of the semi-truck struck the driver’s side of the Ford Escape. Both vehicles skidded off the north side of the roadway, where the semi-truck struck a traffic sign before coming to a rest.
The driver of the Ford Escape sustained moderate injuries and was flown by Air Evac 146 to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Her passenger, an 85-year-old woman from Annada, suffered minor injuries and was transported by Pike County Memorial Ambulance to Pike County Memorial Hospital.
All three individuals involved were wearing safety devices at the time of the crash. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured.
The Ford Escape was considered a total loss, and the semi-truck sustained minor damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Heartland Towing.
