QUINCY — The Blessing Breast Center will host its monthly support group for breast cancer patients and survivors on Aug. 19, offering a space for attendees to connect and share experiences.
The event, called “Courage, Connection, Conversation: Uniting Women in Hope,” will begin at 6 p.m. at The Art Gallery on 6th, 127 N. 6th St.
This month’s program will feature Kai Peters, a holistic health practitioner, who will discuss Reiki, an alternative wellness practice that involves light touch and is intended to promote relaxation and reduce stress. Reiki is not a medically proven cancer treatment, and its use in support group settings is typically presented as a complementary wellness practice rather than a substitute for medical care.
Organizers said the support group is designed to give attendees a welcoming environment where they can connect with others who have had similar experiences, access helpful information, and build a network of encouragement. Attendees do not need to be Blessing Health System patients to participate.
A complimentary dinner will be provided, and the event is free to attend. Participants are asked to RSVP by Aug. 17 by contacting Jessica Corrick at 217-223-1200, extension 4292, or by emailing jessica.corrick@blessinghealth.org.
