Petitions for JWCC trustee election available starting Aug. 18

QUINCY — Nominating petitions for seats on the John Wood Community College Board of Trustees will become available Aug. 18 at the college’s Quincy campus, ahead of an election that will fill two board seats next spring.

Petitions may be obtained from the President’s Office, located on the second floor of the JWCC Student/Administrative Center, 1301 S. 48th St., during regular office hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to noon on Friday. Circulation of petitions may begin Aug. 25.

The filing period runs Nov. 16 through Nov. 23, with the same office hours applying except for Saturday, Nov. 21, when the office will be closed.

Trustees are elected at-large from JWCC District 539, and two seats will be filled in the consolidated election set for April 6, 2027. Both seats carry full six-year terms. The current trustees whose terms are expiring are Don Hess and Paula Sargent, who also goes by Paula Hawley Sargent.

While nominating petitions are obtained and filed at JWCC’s Quincy campus, the election itself is conducted by the county clerk in each county within the college’s district.
