New London motorcyclist injured after striking deer on Route H

RENSSELAER — A 60-year-old New London man was airlifted to a hospital Friday morning after his motorcycle struck a deer in Ralls County.

The crash occurred at 11:40 a.m. on Route H, roughly 2 miles south of Rensselaer, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol incident report.

Authorities said the man was traveling southbound on a 2023 Rewaco motorcycle when the vehicle struck a deer standing in the roadway.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash, sustained moderate injuries. He was transported by Survival Flight to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment.

The motorcycle received minor damage and was left to be removed by the owner.

The Highway Patrol investigated the accident with assistance from Marion County Ambulance, the Monroe City Fire Department, and the Ralls County Sheriff’s Department.
