Missouri gas prices fall nearly 7 cents a gallon

JEFFERSON CITY — Average gasoline prices in Missouri dropped 6.7 cents per gallon over the past week, settling at $3.79 a gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,940 stations across the state. Despite the weekly decline, prices remain 32.5 cents higher than a month ago and 92 cents higher than a year ago.
The cheapest station in Missouri was priced at $3.39 a gallon Sunday, while the most expensive charged $4.69, a spread of $1.30 across the state.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline fell 0.8 cents over the past week to $4.05 a gallon, up 28.5 cents from a month ago, according to GasBuddy, which compiles its figures from more than 11 million weekly price reports covering upward of 150,000 gas stations nationwide. Diesel moved in the opposite direction, rising 7.1 cents nationally to average $5.326 a gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said oil markets swung sharply over the past week as geopolitical tensions flared before easing over the weekend.
“Average gasoline prices were a mixed bag across the country last week as oil markets went on a wild ride, surging on geopolitical tensions before pulling back Sunday night after President Trump signaled a potential deal may be in the works,” De Haan said in a statement.
He added that continued Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil infrastructure are pushing refined-product prices higher even as crude prices ease, keeping pressure on pump prices. De Haan said the national average could reach its highest level ever recorded for this point in the calendar year by later this week, though it would remain below the all-time high set in 2022. He urged drivers to watch developments in both the Persian Gulf and Ukraine, saying either could quickly alter the outlook.
