Tennessee students’ Twain-inspired artwork to be featured at Hannibal art walk

HANNIBAL — Artwork created by students with disabilities as part of a statewide Tennessee arts program will be on display during this month’s Downtown Hannibal Art Walk, with a presentation planned for 5 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Mark Twain Museum Gallery, 120 N. Main St.
The exhibit features work from Borderless Arts Tennessee, an organization that provides inclusive and accessible arts programming for people with disabilities. According to the Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum, a group of the organization’s students spent months studying the life and writings of Mark Twain as part of the America250 initiative, a nationwide effort marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, and the 150th anniversary of the publication of Twain’s novel “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.”
The students’ Twain-inspired pieces, along with additional artwork from the program, will be displayed in the Museum Gallery Auditorium throughout the evening. Artists and group leaders are scheduled to present the work at 5 p.m., followed by a brief talk about the Borderless Arts Tennessee program.
The Museum Gallery will remain open until 7 p.m. as part of the monthly Downtown Hannibal Art Walk, which showcases local galleries, shops and studios throughout the historic downtown district.
