Walk series in Hannibal

HANNIBAL — Hannibal Parks & Recreation is starting a series of walks at different parks on the second Wednesday of the month.

The first one will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Central Park. “Wednesday Wonder Walk and Tree Scavenger Hunt” will be led by HPR nature interpreter Gale Rublee and members of the Mississippi Hills Master Naturalists.

Rublee said, “We will get the chance to admire the variety of life around us, take a few moments to enjoy the whisper of leaves overhead, and fill our lungs with fresh air. It’s a great way to decompress after work in the early evening.”

She said the event is good for families and individuals of all ages. She said the Aug. 12 Wonder Walk will include a scavenger hunt of all the different trees in Central Park. She said it’s been well documented that time in nature contributes to our overall health and well-being in significant ways.
